Wesp has over 31 years experience in the healthcare industry, including President of four acute care hospitals:

(1.) 142-Bed Kindred LTACH Hospital, Louisville, KY, an acute care hospital [1997-2004]
(2.) 101-Bed Medina Memorial Hospital, Medina, NY, [1988 – 1992]
(3.) 32-Bed Renaissance Specialty Hospital, Muncie, IN LTACH co-located in 80 bed SNF [2004 – 2010]      
(4.) 60-Bed Lakeview Rehabilitation Hospital, of Elizabethton, KY.  [1993-1997]

Wesp also has significant healthcare facility development experience as noted below.  Wesp is also a licensed Nursing Home Administrator in three states; New York, Indiana and Kentucky.  A graduate of the University of Rochester, Wesp has a Master’s in Public Health Administration from its School of Medicine & Dentistry, and an MBA from the U of R’s School of Business.

 

Healthcare Management/Development Experience

Renaissance Specialty Hospital of Central Indiana [2004-2010]
Muncie, Indiana

Wesp was responsible for the development, staffing and opening of a new 32-LTACH facility and 80-Bed Skilled Nursing Home.  The facility renovations budget was a total of $450,000 and was completed on time and on budget.  Upon completion the facility met the following approval milestones:

1. Successfully Licensed            -  1/19/05
2. CMS Medicare/Medicaid Certified   -  2/16/05
3. Accredited by JCAHO                    -  6/03/05
4. Certified as LTACH by CMS            -  8/16/05
5. Moved to Ball Memorial Hospital     - 3/10/10
6. Operational Turn-around of LTACH -  8/12/09 – 5/31/10

240-Bed Sunnyside Healthcare of Indiana [2004 – under development]
Jeffersonville, Indiana

This is the initial healthcare commons project on a 33-acre site in the metro Louisville, KY MSA.  All local zoning and approvals have been successfully completed and approved by local zoning/planning board authorities.

• 142-Bed Kindred Hospital – Long Term Acute Care [1997-2004]
Louisville, KY

Jim Wesp was CEO of this Louisville, KY based Kindred LTACH.  He successfully developed and opened a new satellite 30 Bed “HIH” facility in 2003.  The total development budget was $1,500,000 and was completed on time, and was co developed with the Jewish Hospital.

60-Bed The Rehabilitation Hospital of Southern Indiana [1993-1994]
New Albany, Indiana

As the initial CEO of the Rehabilitation Hospital of Southern Indiana, Jim Wesp was responsible for the development, construction, staffing and opening of this new $8,000,000 medical rehabilitation facility.  The project was completed on time and on budget.

• 42-Bed Lakeview Rehabilitation Hospital [1993 – 1997]
Elizabethtown, Kentucky

CEO of Rehabilitation Hospital, increased census by 20%, Net Income by 14% in 3.5 years.  Recruited physicians and transitioned hospital through a clinical services restructuring capitalizing on the 75% rule and the trend toward neurological diagnoses.

• 101 Bed Medina Memorial Hospital [1988 – 1992]
Medina, New York

CEO of 101 bed acute care hospital.  Wesp was Responsible for the construction of a new clinical wing that included a new Emergency Department and new Surgical Suite.  Oversaw the acquisition of a 120 bed nursing home in the community as a means of expanding clinical programming and easing the burden of discharge planning in the early days of PPS reimbursement.

• 667 Bed University Hospital - Cincinnati [1983 – 1985]
Cincinnati, Ohio

As Associate Administrator for Clinical and Professional Services, Wesp was responsible for hospital interface with 19 clinical departments in the School of Medicine.  Oversaw a restructuring of the Laboratory Services product line; lead administrative representative for the design and development of the hospital’s state-of-the-art Critical Care tower (ER/Med ICU/Surg ICU/NICU/Burn Unit/Helipad).
